Captain George Michael Mukula is a prominent Ugandan politician and businessman, currently serving as the Vice Chairman for the National Resistance Movement in Eastern Uganda. Achievements.
  • He negotiated peace initiatives in the ADF which saw the peaceful return of Charles Wisley Mumbere Iremangoma (King of Rwenzururu Kingdom) and coordinated the return of exiles from Zambia and Kenya.
  • He initiated the fight against the Lord Resistance Army (LRA) in Teso sub-region and with other colleagues, formed an auxiliary force; the “Arrow boys,” who fought the LRA out of Teso.
  • He successfully moved a motion in Parliament for the disarmament of the Karamojong on 14th March, 2000, a move that has ushered in peace in the East and Northern Uganda from cattle rustling.

Career

  • He worked as a pilot with a number of international airlines and later as an instructor at East African Civil Aviation Academy, Soroti Uganda.
  • In the late 1980s Mike Mukula worked as a personal pilot to President Yoweri Museveni.
  • He entered politics in 2001 under the umbrella of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), when he successfully contested for the Soroti Municipality parliamentary seat.
  • He served as a Member of Parliament from 1996 to 2006 and from 2011 to 2016.
  • He was appointed State Minister for Health (general duties), serving in that position until 2006.
